What to expect
On the day
After numbing cream, the doctor places a series of small injections across the treatment area with a fine needle. Many products contain hyaluronic acid in tiny depots that settle over a few days. The appointment usually takes twenty to forty minutes.
Downtime
Expect tiny bumps, redness and the chance of small bruises that usually settle within a few days. Most people return to normal life the same day. Bio remodelling products are placed in fewer points and tend to settle quickly.
How long it lasts
Classic skin boosters are usually given as a course of three sessions a few weeks apart, with results lasting around four to six months and top ups thereafter. Profhilo is typically two sessions a month apart, holding up to around nine months.
Real risks and downtime
Common and usually temporary effects include redness, swelling, small injection bumps, tenderness and bruising. Less commonly there can be infection, lumps that persist, or an allergic type reaction. As with any injectable, there is a rare risk of vascular complication if a vessel is involved, which is why a trained medical injector matters. Skin boosters improve hydration and texture but do not replace volume or lift the face, so honest expectations are part of a good result. Results vary and are never guaranteed. A responsible doctor assesses your skin, recommends a sensible course rather than overselling, and tells you when another treatment, or none, would serve you better.
