Treatments/Advanced Facials

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning is a gentle exfoliating facial that uses a sterile blade to lift away dead surface cells and the fine vellus hair often called peach fuzz. The result is smoother skin, a brighter look, and a flawless base for makeup. It is a non medical treatment, comfortable and quick, and a quiet favourite before an event.

What it is

A trained therapist holds a sterile surgical grade blade at a soft angle and uses light, feathery strokes to skim away the outermost layer of dead skin along with vellus hair. There are no needles and no chemicals. Most people find it relaxing, a little like a careful, precise shave of the face. Skincare applied afterwards tends to absorb better, and makeup sits beautifully.

Who it suits

It suits most skin types, especially anyone wanting an instant, fuss free glow with no downtime. It is a lovely choice for dry or flaky skin, for softening the look of fine lines, and for those who dislike the look of facial fuzz. It pairs well as a first step before a hydrating facial or a gentle mask.

Who it is not for

It is best avoided if you have active acne, a current breakout, raised moles in the area, sunburn, or an inflammatory skin condition such as a rosacea flare. Very sensitive skin can react, so a patch of caution and an honest conversation with your therapist comes first. The fine hair grows back exactly as it was, not thicker or darker, despite the common myth.

What to expect and any risks

Dermaplaning is low risk in skilled hands. The most common effects are brief redness or a slight tingling. Occasionally a tiny nick or a small breakout can follow, and skin is temporarily more sensitive to sun, so daily sunscreen matters. Hygiene is everything, so a fresh sterile blade for every client is non negotiable. Results are real but gentle, a refreshed glow rather than a transformation, and they are not permanent.

Good to know

Hold off on retinoids and strong acids for a few days either side, and skip it entirely if you have an active breakout. If you are after deeper resurfacing, a peel or microneedling may suit you better, so ask your therapist what your skin actually needs.
