In deeper skin tones there is a risk of temporary pigment change, and treating too aggressively can cause marks or, rarely, scarring, so technique and depth are everything. Going out into strong sun on freshly treated skin is the most common avoidable mistake. Microneedling is generally avoided over active acne or infection, on skin with certain conditions and during pregnancy. Results are never guaranteed and they build slowly rather than appearing at once.
