Comparison · Two different goals

Lip filler versus Profhilo

These two are sometimes weighed against each other, but they are really after different things. Lip filler shapes and adds volume to the lips. Profhilo improves the quality of the skin across the face, neck or hands. Choosing between them is less a contest and more a question of what you actually want to change.

The short answer

They are not really rivals

Lip filler is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler placed directly into the lips to add volume, define the border or balance their shape. It is the right tool when your goal is the lips themselves, and a skilled injector can keep the result soft and natural rather than overdone.

Profhilo is a bioremodelling treatment. It uses a spreading hyaluronic acid to hydrate the skin and support collagen and elastin across a broad area, improving overall skin quality and mild laxity. It does not add lip volume and is not a lip treatment. Because they do different jobs, some people have both, lips shaped with filler and skin conditioned with Profhilo.

Lean lip filler

Lip filler may suit you if

  • Your goal is fuller, more defined or better balanced lips
  • You want a visible change to the lips that you can see soon after
  • You are comfortable refreshing it once or twice a year
Lean Profhilo

Profhilo may suit you if

  • Your concern is skin quality, dryness or mild laxity rather than the lips
  • You want a subtle, overall freshening rather than a single feature changed
  • You prefer a result that builds gradually over a few weeks
When the answer is neither · If your lips are simply a little dry or finely lined rather than lacking volume, a lip specific skin booster may serve you better than either. If you want to soften lines around the mouth, that is often a job for wrinkle relaxing injections or resurfacing. And a careful injector will sometimes advise against lip filler altogether, for example if your lips are already balanced. Honest guidance is part of a good consultation.
